IN MY BASKET

2 VINTAGE BOWTIES, OVERSIZED FRAMES, VINTAGE WOOL JERKIN VEST
VINTAGE HONEY SHADES, 1960'S FRINGED PONCHO JACKET

Anyone who's seen me struggling my way through the studio door at 567 Broadway can confirm that I always have a suitcase, armful of bags or a big basket with me. That's because it's part of a routine that I find works very well for me, and I want to begin sharing it with you on the blog. Basically, I shop until I have a enough great vintage to pack up in my baskets. When they're full, I know it's time for an update. It also gets me to clean out my laundry room, the official storage place for vintage awaiting the basket.

The best part of this routine is bringing together all the finds for that week or two, and folding them nicely in the basket. I get to re-appreciate and sort my favorites. As rituals go, this is a great one. In the past, I've taken pictures of some of these combinations because they looks so great lying together, a mix of pattern, color and texture. Before I know it, one of all of these pieces have found new homes. By taking record of them before they are put up for sale, I take a little memento to keep with me forever.

So, I hope you enjoy this new photo feature for 2012. Who knows, you may also get a sneak peek at something that might be yours to enjoy one day soon.

That's interesting to know! I love seeing the processes that other people use, and you're right, it makes great shots. :)

The fringed poncho jacket looks interesting ;) ...I love 'laundry basket' shots: the mix of textures, patterns and colours are like a magical and mysterious treasure hunt, with lots of accompanying oohs and aahs, LOL! These little photographic vignettes are lovely to see: can't wait for more! Happy Friday, Jill! xo

Those bowties are very classy, shying away from the generic patterns I see most days.
Cheers!
